Johnny Ratcliff

I'm a first year graduate student at California State University, Chico, studying biology with an emphasis on ecology and a focus on entomology and community ecology; especially mutualisms.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and spent a good portion of my life traveling due to my father's employment in the military.  I settled down in Northern California where I studied biology at Lassen Community College.  I took a side-path and went to culinary school and worked in the culinary industry for about 5 years before returning to school at CSU Chico, where I received my BS in Ecological, Evolutionary, and Organismal Biology.

I love to go out into the numerous parks, reserves, and preserves that dominate the area here in Chico.  I enjoy hiking, birding, photography, and geocaching; all which take me outdoors as much as possible.

I currently work in the Aquatic Bioassessment Laboratory located on the CSU Chico campus, working for the CSU Chico Research Foundation and the Department of Fish and Game, picking and identifying macroinvertebrates from stream sample benthos.
